     We at f.g.bradley’s have always endeavored to provide you, the customer, with the finest quality products at the best possible prices. We continue to do so, but the current economic changes created by the newly robust Canadian dollar have presented some challenges. In many instances, we have met the challenge already and lowered our prices but, as retailers, we are somewhat caught between the public expectation that a higher dollar should mean lower prices and the reality that, while prices will eventually drop, the lower prices in most cases cannot be instantaneous. Our preparations for the holiday season included ordering most of our product months in advance to ensure timely delivery. This, in turn, was also true of our suppliers and manufacturers. The result is that most of our current pricing is based on a fair retail value as applied to costs that were fixed to prior economic conditions. Also note that much of our products are bought from domestic manufacturers and not affected by currency fluctuations and that some of the positive effects of the dollar have been offset by large increases in the costs of shipping.

     We are currently working hard to source new product from new and existing manufacturers and negotiating better pricing where applicable. It should be noted that our sources for new product are global, and that not all costs of imported goods reflect an exchange rate that is favourable to the Canadian dollar. Even so, you will notice that many of our products have dropped in price and you will continue to notice this on an ongoing basis. For example, we have recently signed on with a new manufacturer of solid wood games tables and chairs. By switching from one manufacturer in the U.S. to another in the U.S. and ordering newly manufactured instead of in-stock product we are able to pass along substantial savings immediately. Our promise to you is this will be an ongoing trend.
